吉利董事長李書福與福特汽車首席財務長佈思周日在瑞典歌德堡的沃爾沃總部簽署瞭收購協議   福特汽車公司(Ford Motor Co.) 向浙江吉利控股集團(Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.)出售沃爾沃公司(Volvo),有助於吉利集團進一步施展其全球化發展抱負,福特汽車也籍此退出這項處於虧損的非主營業務。   Ford Motor Co.'s sale of Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. could help the Chinese car maker further its global ambitions while allowing Ford to exit a money-losing business that was a distraction from its core operations.   熟悉情況的業內人士稱,吉利集團董事長李書福計劃通過引入中國相對較便宜的勞動力,大幅削減這傢瑞典汽車公司在產品開發及制造方面的成本。   Geely Chairman Li Shufu plans to radically slash the Swedish car maker's costs in areas such as product-development and manufacturing by tapping relatively cheap labor in China, people familiar with the situation say.   一位熟悉情況的人士稱,李書福同時希望以沃爾沃的高端品牌聲譽推動其在中國的銷售。他有興趣在今後三至四年時間裡,為該品牌添加兩到三個更大、更豪華的車型,以促進該品牌在全球特別是在中國的銷售。   At the same time, he hopes to use Volvo's upscale reputation to boost sales by the brand in China. He is interested in adding two or three bigger, more luxurious cars to its lineup over the next three to four years, to boost sales around the world but especially in China, a person familiar with the matter said.   根據李書福制定的大變身方案,沃爾沃的年銷量將在四至五年時間達到近一百萬輛,而目前的年銷量約為40萬輛。   Under an ambitious turnaround plan Mr. Li has developed, Volvo would aim to sell nearly a million vehicles a year within four to five years, up from recent annual sales of about 400,000 vehicles.   吉利集團計劃在中國設立一傢年產量為30萬輛的沃爾沃汽車生產廠,並相信沃爾沃在中國市場的年銷量可達20萬輛,在亞洲其它地區年銷量可達10萬輛。   Geely plans to build a Volvo plant in China capable of producing 300,000 vehicles a year. Geely believes Volvo has the potential to sell 200,000 cars a year in China and the other 100,000 vehicles in the rest of Asia.   吉利還計劃以沃爾沃在歐洲的全部產能向歐洲及北美銷售60萬輛。   The company also wants to use Volvo's manufacturing capacity fully in Europe to sell 600,000 vehicles there and in North America.   李書福周日說,沃爾沃將繼續在歐洲運營,並在其自有管理團隊管理下作為一個獨立品牌運作。   On Sunday, Mr. Li said Volvo operations will continue in Europe and Volvo would remain an independent brand with its own management team.   盡管中國公司的重要性在不斷增加,但在海外並購中成功案件寥寥無幾。吉利作為中國最大的一傢私有汽車制造商,在沃爾沃並購一事上預計將面臨艱難挑戰。   Despite their growing heft, Chinese companies have had limited success with overseas acquisitions. Geely, one of China's biggest privately owned auto makers, is expected to face tough challenges with Volvo.   吉利缺乏向中國市場之外銷售汽車的經驗,更不用提要在萬裡之遙、和中國迥然不同的瑞典管理一傢大型汽車制造廠瞭。吉利集團並非全球性大公司的形象,及以往生產低端汽車的定位,可能會引發對沃爾沃質量的一連串置疑聲。   It has little experience selling cars outside China, let alone running major manufacturing operations in a country as far away and as different from China as Sweden. Geely's lack of global stature, and its past reputation for making low-end vehicles, could ding Volvo's reputation for quality.
